Isle of Wight

Year 6 will be embarking on a trip to the Isle of Wight from 9th to 13th July 2012. The information and links below are a supplement to the letter that was sent out to parents. Let the year 6 class teachers know if you need another copy of this letter.

We are staying at the Roseberry Hotel in Shanklin.

 Monday







 D-Day museum, Southsea

 Ferry to the Isle of Wight on Wightlink

Tuesday


 Alum bay glass blowing. (more information on alum bay)


 Wednesday


 Amazon World Fun adventure park and gardens.
 
Home to Queen Victoria and her family.

 Thursday

Well-preserved 800-year old castle. The castle was a prison to Charles I (during the English Civil War) although he tried to escape twice. He got stuck between the bars on his second attempt. More information here.
Friday

Action Stations

Kit List
Suitcase / Travel Bag (Labels will be sent before departure to attach to the travel bag

·       Plain blue or white t-shirts (Wykeham logo polo or T shirts acceptable) (No strappy T shirts, please)
·       1 or 2 jumpers – again plain blue, grey or black (Wykeham tops acceptable)
·       Plain blue, black, grey or beige trousers / shorts (plain jeans / jogging bottoms acceptable and girls may wish to wear skirts)
·       Two pairs of trainers (one pair suitable for walking and another for beach wear)
·       Socks and underwear for the duration of the children’s stay
·       Nightwear / dressing gown
·       Slippers / indoor shoes (which are safe and secure on the feet for moving around the hotel)
·       Plastic bin liner for worn clothes
·       Hand towel to take to beach

Toiletries – Wash Bag Containing:

·       Soap
·       Face towel
·       Toothbrush/toothpaste
·       Shampoo/Conditioner
·       Comb/brush
·       Shower gel
·       Roll on anti-perspirant  (No deodorant sprays)
·       Lip salve
·       Sanitary products in case of need (girls only)

Small backpack / rucksack for daily use (Please mark clearly with your child’s name)

·       On departure day a packed lunch (no glass bottles or cans, please)
·       Water Bottle
·       Named purse / wallet
·       Camera
·       Waterproof jacket
·       Book / puzzle book (for journey to and from Isle of Wight)
·       Sunglasses
·       Sun protection
·       Sun hat

Items not to be taken

·       Valuables such as jewellery,
·       Personal ipods,
·       Electronic games
·       Mobile phones
·       No electrical equipment such as hair straighteners or hair dryers

Please label children’s clothing.
